Yuletide Letter 2024

Hello, yuletide person! Thanks for reading my letter, thanks even more if you decide to write anything for me - it’s really gratefully received. Regardless, I hope your yuletide brings excellent gifts and enthusiastic reactions to anything you write.

DNWs:

Transphobia, violence to eyes (blindfolds are fine, anything harder not). (Except where noted)

Any character saying “use your words” or variants of it (I know this is silly, but I have a very strong reaction to it)

Likes:

Het/Slash/Femslash/Poly. 

Kink in general, particular with formality. Most hard kinks are fine, but I’m not super fond of vore or strong mutilation. 

Clever-cleverness, wittiness, plots-within-plots, meta references. 

Dislikes (as opposed to DNWs): I’m not hugely fond of crossovers from vastly different media, of the type where the characters appear unchanged (Classic example: The TARDIS materialising on the bridge of the Enterprise). Retellings, thematic influences, subtle little references, any of that is absolutely fine.

If you could avoid first person present tense, that would be great, but anything can be carried off with enough brio and style.

Fandom: Die (Image Comics)

Requested Character: Dominic Ash | Ash the Dictator

I went to a panel at Worldcon about "modern comics outside of superheroes", and came away with a list of recommendations. Die was the one that was affordable in the dealers room, and it blew me away, particularly the character Ash. Anything about them, particularly anything that captures the sense of loss, guilt, and catharsis - with just a small amount of fulfilment and excitement would be great. I'm happy with any other characters appearing.

DNW note: I do have a general DNW about eye violence, that's a big part of this canon so obviously if some of that appears, that's fine, but don't go all-in on it. I'd prefer Case just not appear - there's some things that are just too sad for me. Similarly, transphobia is a DNW for me, do not feel that you have to avoid Ash's gender identity, but perhaps don't go too hard on it.

Fandom: Escape The Green Room - Gamechanger Episode

Requested Character: Sam Reich, Brennan Lee Mulligan, Lou Wilson, Siobhan Thompson

I love Dropout, and the vast majority of Gamechanger episodes - this is one of my favourites. Perhaps the stars get sucked back into the evil greenroom? Perhaps Samuel Dalton has other plans? Perhaps the escapees get their revenge on Sam?

If there's not a BLM rant, I'll be disappointed?

DNW Notes: Stay the right side of the parasocial line. This is about public personas. Don't be too explicit, either - if it could be on a Dimension 20 episode, that's fine, but nothing more than that

Fandom: Innkeeper Chronicles (Illona Andrews)

I love this series, and Sweep of the Blade particularly. Anything with vampire society, Helen being a rassa in the grass, Arland being ... just solid. I'd particularly love some Marshal/Maven scheme/shenanigans.
